Winter weather is in full swing, and as we all know, conditions can change quickly. Snow, ice, and freezing temperatures can create slippery surfaces on sidewalks, stairs, and parking areas, sometimes with very little warning.
The Condominium Corporation (WSCC No. 643) is responsible for maintaining common areas and taking reasonable steps to keep them safe during winter conditions. Winter maintenance activities are carried out based on weather, temperature, and available materials, and may vary during periods of extreme or changing conditions.
That said, no winter maintenance program can eliminate all risks entirely so Schembri Property Management wants to give some helpful tips. The information below is provided as helpful guidance to support everyone’s safety throughout the winter season.

- Wear proper winter footwear with good traction
- Use handrails where available, especially on stairs and ramps
- Allow extra time when walking on and off the property
- Proceed with caution, even if an area appears clear at first glance
- Be mindful that ice in Waterloo can form quickly, particularly overnight or during temperature fluctuations
